True Type fonts must be installed in Windows using the Font manager in the Control Panel. The Font manager describes how to install fonts correctly. Fonts will be stored in C:\WINNT\Fonts with all other font files.

TrueType fonts can behave inconsistantly on certain Windows systems, some characters in complex fonts such as these, may print or display incorrectly, Postscript fonts do not have this problem. In order for True Type fonts to function properly, you may have to make sure the printer options for your printer are set correctly. In Windows, (depending on which version you are running and which printer you have selected) go to Start\Settings\Control Panels\ double click on Printers and then right click the icon for your printer. Then go to \Setup\Options and check the "Print True Type as Graphics" box.

In order to use Postscript fonts you must have Adobe Type Manager (ATM) loaded on your machine. Use the ATM control panel for installation, be sure to set the Font Cache at an amount recommended by Adobe for the number of fonts you have active.

Since PC keyboards do not have an option key like a Mac, other means must be used to access the character designs that are indicated as residing on the "Option" and "Option/Shift" layers.

On the PDF Showing that shipped with your font, under each of the character designs, its keyboard position is indicated along with the three digit ASCI code for that character.

In Windows, to access the character designs in the "Option" and "Option Shift" layers, you must use the "Num Lock" key, depress the "Alt" key, and then type zero plus its ASCI numerical code. For example to access the character at the "Option 1" key position, engage the Num Lock key, and on your numerical keypad (not the number keys across the top of the keyboard), press and hold the Alt key while typing 0193.

Due to the limitations of the font naming technology on any Windows system, these fonts will not have the exact the same names that they do on Macintosh systems. As a result the fonts will not organize themselves in one convenient sub-menu as they do in Adobe TypeReunion. For example, in all Windows applications, the font Altemus Cuts, will show up in the font menu under the name "AltemusCuts", and will be shown alphabetically mixed in with any other installed fonts.

Each font file you download will be in its own directory with the name of the font followed by "_WPS" for Windows Postscript, or "_WTT" for Windows TrueType. Within the directories, the individual font files can be identified as follows; ALTERBY_.TTF and ALTERBY_.PFM for True Type fonts, or ALTERBY_.PFM and ALTERBY_.PFB for Postscript fonts.
