S I N G A D O B E A T M Adobe Type Manager (ATM) was designed for fonts composed of roman letter forms and must be set correctly to avoid problems with these or any non-alphabetic fonts. The Adobe ATM control panel has two options: to either preserve line spacing or to preserve character shapes. You should select preserve line spacing. This will not affect your other typography in any way, and will prevent these non-alphabetic characters from shifting position and possibly re-flowing text when files are sent for final output. S M A R T Q U O T E S If you are using a program that has automatic quote mark replacement, temporarily turn that feature off, or you will not be able to use character designs on some of the punctuation keys. S P A C I N G To help you use the fonts as borders or repeat patterns, the Shift space bar is set to produce an em space (a square of the point size). To mix characters more easily with other text faces, use the unmodified space bar. |
